MUMBAI: In January 2015, an ad for soap featuring Katrina Kaif drew four million hits online. The still photographs had been shot by 26-year-old Bhavesh Patel who was born blind. He had judged Katrina's height by her handshake, and followed her movements through her voice and the rustle of fabric.

KOCHI: At a time when open water swimming has turned out to be a daunting challenge for many of us, a vision impaired 12-year-old student has set a  unique record by swimming across the Periyar river in the presence of hundreds of cheering crowds.

A new device that allows blind people to process visual images with their tongues can help them identify location, shape and size of various objects.

In an effort to create skilled workforce by providing necessary supports, visually impaired students were given PABX and call centre training aiming to involve them in mainstream of development to ensure their normal life, reports BSS.
