VISUALLY-IMPAIRED PEOPLE HIT STREETS AGAINST GOVT APATHY
Braving incessant rains, hundreds of visually-impaired people on Thursday hit the streets here decrying the State Government’s apathy in fulfiling their 15-point charter of demands. The protestors under the banner of the Odisha Students’ Union of Visually Impaired staged a demonstration at the Lower PMG highlighting their grievances.

Vimal, Reshma and Nuruddin from Uttar Pradesh are suffering from severe visual impairment. As children, they could never attend regular schools due the various societal, financial and infrastructural obstacles facing them. They approached the Eyeway desk and expressed their desire to complete their formal education. We put in our best efforts to ensure that they did not fall through the gaps and were able to achieve their dreams.
Mr Venu Arjan Bhai Mir
Mr Venu Arjan Bhai Mir, a 36 year old man with complete blindness and 75 percent loco motor disability called the Eyeway helpdesk in May 2014 after listening to our radio show, Nazar Ya Nazariya. His life, which earlier consisted of just staying at home, got a completely new turn after Eyeway connected him to an Ahmedabad-based NGO.
