VADODARA: She was the first and the only visually-impaired student to appear for the SSC exams using a laptop in the state. Now, Vadodara-based Yesha Makwana achieved yet another feat as she ranked first in the state among all the visually-impaired students who took the board exams. Makwana, a student of Web Memorial School, scored 85.2%.
The blind students are given special laptops with voice assistant features.
THOOTHUKUDI: A group of people with visual impairment have decided to name their residential area after the outgoing district collector, Dr K Senthil Raj, as a mark of respect for his continuous efforts to empower them. In August 2022, Minister Geetha Jeevan and Thoothukudi MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi had recently distributed free land pattas to 27 men and 25 women attached to the Ulagin Oli Visually Impaired Trust.
Gillo Repertory Theatre presented the play, Rangchor, Ek Rakshas Ki Anokhi Kahani (The Colour Thief, an unusual tale of a demon) at the Prithvi Theatre on May 12.
The story is set in a fairytale-like place where a monster lived in a cave and hated colours. So, one day she snatched away the colours from everything in the world.
