As it is, iOS already has an impressive suite of accessibility solutions that cater to users with disabilities. Foremost among these is VoiceOver. VoiceOver aids visually impaired users by speaking items on the screen. In addition, it provides alternative selection and scrolling gestures.
A self-defence workshop for the visually impaired was held at H K College, Oshiwara, on Sunday. At least 24 visually challenged persons participated in the workshop conducted by Voice Vision, a computer training institute. Martial arts expert Pawan Sharma, along with five trainers and two doctors, taught the participants defence techniques that are a mix of karate, judo and aikido.
A 40-year-old person suffering from night blindness was murdered in the city on Tuesday night when he tried to intervene in a scuffle near his house.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Bharat Vishodiya, a resident of Bhagwatipara area. At around 10 pm on Tuesday, Vishodiya came out of his home after hearing about a fight. He thought his younger brother Dinesh was involved in the ruckus and went to inquire about it.

After nine months of anxiety, patience, anticipation and dreaming, when your child is born blind, or visually impaired, it is but natural for you to feel disappointed, frustrated and, maybe, even a little cheated. This was perhaps the last thing you had expected or bargained for.
As soon as the baby is born, the mother and father become attached to their child through touch – through holding, carrying, and playing with their baby. The world of movement begins, and it is the parents who are the first educators of their child. This holds true for visually impaired children too.
The magical transformation of the helpless infant into the curious, assertive and capable little three-year-old, is fascinating to observe. To anyone who has watched an infant in the first three years of life, the important role of vision in leading, motivating and clarifying experiences and interactions will be evident.
