This course aims to empower and equip participants with essential skills to enhance their computer literacy, mobility, Life skills, English communication, employability prospects to lead an independent and respectful life.

Reservation versus Access

A person without digital skills is termed illiterate in today’s technologically driven world. From studying and working, to socializing and engaging with the outside world, all takes place online. Thanks to tech innovations, persons with blindness and vision impairment are also able to digitally engage with various services.
They can use screen reading software to operate smartphones and computers, in order to read, write, browse, navigate, et cetera. However, not everyone has the access to digital skills or devices that can empower them to thrive in a mainstream environment.

KOCHI:   It was a joyous moment for India at the Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham. As the national flag fluttered high, an excited group of women in blue huddled to celebrate the history they scripted. Beating Australia, the Indian women’s blind cricket team won the gold medal at the International Blind Sports Association (IBSA) World Games 2023 held recently in England. The 16-member squad showed exemplary performance and emerged victorious in the maiden cricket championship at the event.

8k Divyang from 19 districts to get equipments.
Eight thousand 277 Divyang people and senior citizens of 19 districts of Madhya Pradesh will get assistive devices worth Rs 9 crore 53 lakh 79 thousand. This will make the life of the beneficiaries easier. These districts have been selected by the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment under ADIP (Scheme of Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase/Fitting of Aids and Appliances) and Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana.

Kanpur (UP): In a major breakthrough, the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur has unveiled a pioneering assistive technology aimed at revolutionising braille literacy for visually impaired and blind individuals.

Developed by Prof. Siddhartha Panda and Vishwaraj Srivastava at the National Centre of Flexible Electronics (NCFlexE), IITK, the ‘Single Refreshable Braille Cell Based Braille Learning Device with a Touch Sensitive Array’ is set to make a significant impact in the field of accessible education.
